An New Experience At An Old Past-Time

Monster Mini-Gold – Jessup, Md

Description – I was thankful that the kids are old enough now not to want to play mini-golf.  With the rare exception of seeking out something to do at the beach on a slow vacation day, mini-golf seems to be in the same category of excitement as Duck Pin Bowling.  Although this blog normally focuses on technology, I like to capture exceptional customer service experiences, as well.  Monster Mini-Golf is just one such exceptional service experience.  This is an 18 hole indoor mini-golf course, that is completely “lit” with black light, and is festooned with a broad array of golf obstacles painted with fluorescent paint.  The place is clean, well run, has a “DJ” that spins tunes congruent with the “Monster” theme, and service agents costumed in ultra-bright white lab coats, that help outfit your party. This is no amateur production, as there are numerous “sculptures” through out the space, painted with incredible finesse and detail, making one feel they are walking through an “Op Art” gallery. At $7.50 Adults, and $6.50 Kids, the quality of the venue, attention to customer experience, and uniqueness of the experience make this a study in how to make a mundane sport into exceptional entertainment.  Despite it being nestled in a non-descript corner of a strip mall, just off route 95, between Baltimore and Washington DC, it was continually packed with 30 to 60 golfers, ranging in age from toddler to grandparent.
